The Story of Tomila
In the day and age of apps and sites and so much technology, we met in a very old school way - through mutual friends, by pure chance. It was the summer of 2014 and the US Men’s soccer team was actually making a run in the World Cup. As the games went on and the groups of friends watching the games grew larger, eventually Tom noticed someone he hadn’t seen before. Now, in larger cities this might happen all the time but here in Tallahassee, when you see friends of friends you haven’t encountered before, it’s an uncommon thing. In this case, a very special thing. On this fateful day, Camila ended up leaving Madison Social before Tom could catch her name. Over time, over several games, several bars and restaurants, and several inquiries among friends, (and one legendary Vanderpalooza), we eventually, inevitably became friends. We started hanging out in 2015, with one of our first “dates” at Growler Country for a friend’s birthday. Camila met Tom’s mom in April of that year, and we eventually became “FBO” at Moe’s on Apalachee Parkway on April 19th, still celebrated as our relationship anniversary. Ending the everlasting discussion of whose house to spend time at, we moved in together in the fall and took our first big trip together, a road trip from Phoenix, Sedona, Vegas and San Francisco, over the holidays that year. Across the holidays of 2016, Tom met Camila’s parents (and entire family) for the first time, on a trip to Lima, Peru. We adopted our fur baby, Cimarron, and bought our first home together in 2017. We continued to travel through 2018 and 2019, highlighted by a trip to Paris, Nice, Florence, and Rome. We got engaged on New Year’s Day 2020 in Dublin, Ireland and are tying the knot this December 2020 in Sonoma, California! It’s safe to say that life thus far has been quite an adventure, but there is no one else we’d rather tailgate, Corner Pocket, and Netflix binge with than each other. Whether it’s international travel or international take-out, we’re excited for what the future brings!
A special thank you to all of our family and friends that have loved and laughed with us over the years.
